If you wish to do complex "organic" shapes, you'll be better suited by using a 'true' CAD soft, and importing the drawings into CamBam.ĬamBam is a 2.5D machining software - designed to allow fairly simple 2.5D designs to be made within it, and then to generate the machining instructions (g-code) necessary for a physical machine to do the work. Is there anything like that in the US specifically for CamBam? Something with copious "how to" illustrations.įirst, let me say that CamBam is NOT CAD. I am liking the program so far but it would be nice if there were something out there like CamBam for Dummies.
But I sill need to *see* how one would design (step by step), for example, mag wheels or draw a smooth, curved part to scale, e.g., a door handle on an 1957 Chev., or even change a straight line to a gentle curved line.

I've learned how to connect two or more objects and remove selected parts. I've learned how to break lines apart and join lines. Even something as mundane as starting with a rectangle, breaking intersections, and changing just one of the straight lines to a line that's serpentine and "joining" the line back to the rectangle without the rectangle losing its shape. which have been helpful, but I'm still in need of reference material which might further assist when various complex drawings are needed. I have visited and revisited the on-line tutorials.
Currently I'm attempting to familiarize myself with CB through use of the "40-Free-Sessions program".
